27 Nov 2020
Deputy Speaker Mr Christopher de Souza and Members of Parliament from the Singapore-Northeast Asia Regional Parliamentary Group, Mr Kwek Hian Chuan Henry and Ms Tin Pei Ling, caught up via virtual link, with counterparts from the National People’s Congress (NPC) of the People’s Republic of China.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China, and the parliamentarians remained committed to meeting up, even though the current COVID-19 situation had necessitated an online meeting.
The dialogue was warm, with the parliamentarians re-affirming the close cooperation and friendship between our two countries. Both sides also agreed that the commitment to strengthen relations and explore new ways of working together, remained strong despite the on-going pandemic.
Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC Mr Wang Dongming led the discussion by NPC. He was joined by Mr Shi Yaobin and Mr Guo Zhenhua, who are both members of the Sino-Singapore Friendship Group of NPC.
