Official Visit by President of Japan's House of Councillors

The President of Japan’s House of Councillors HE Mr Chuichi Date is on an Official Visit to Singapore from 13 to 15 January 2019 at the invitation of Singapore Speaker of Parliament Mr Tan Chuan-Jin. Mr Date and his Delegation paid a courtesy call on Speaker Tan at Parliament House today. They re-affirmed the strong and multi-faceted ties between Singapore and Japan, and also spoke about greater collaboration between the two countries in facing common challenges such as an ageing population. Besides Speaker Tan, Singapore Members of Parliament were also present at the courtesy call, namely, Mr Liang Eng Hwa, who is the Chairman of the Singapore-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Miss Cheryl Chan and Mr Darryl David, both of whom are members of the Singapore-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
