Every word that is said in Parliament is recorded by a team of verbatim reporters and published as the official record of proceedings known as the Singapore Parliament Report (SPR) or "Hansard" as it is popularly known in many Commonwealth Parliaments.
At every sitting of Parliament, the reporters transcribe the debates in full. The draft or first copy of the SPR is sent via electronic mail to the MPs for verification. Any correction to the draft report must be returned to the Chief Reporter & Editor within 72 hours from the time it was sent. The final copy is printed as the Official Report. A CD-ROM is produced after the closure of a volume of the Official Reports consisting of between 15 and 18 issues of the reports.
The Department also produces the Official Reports of the various Select Committee meetings and prepares notes of meetings between Members of Parliament and visiting delegations.
